AHS Award of Merit 2023/24 Winner!
Congratulations to Maria Larson, M.S. on being the 2023/24 recipient of the AHS Award of Merit!
The AHS Award of Merit review committee is delighted to have selected Maria Larson, M.S. on being the recipient of the AHS Award of Merit. The recipient will be awarded a cash prize for their hard work and has been nominated for the institution level Award of Merits in hopes of being recognized by the Chancellor and receiving a larger cash prize.
To quote the Department Head of Occupational Therapy Dr. Magasi:
"Ms. Larson demonstrates creativity in problem-solving, initiative, and commitment to individual development and fostering growth, leadership, teamwork, and enhancing the work environment with occupational therapy and AHS as a whole."
Maria played a pivotal role in developing the E-OTD program, supporting students through this professional program, and a stellar commitment to diversity and affirmative action as evidenced by her work. UIC Department of Occupational Therapy's E-OTD is currently ranked 3rd in the country according to the 2024 US News and World Report ranking of graduate programs. Maria is an important part of our sustained excellence and recognition within the profession. Ms. Larson serves as the Senior (and only) Academic Advisor for students in both of these programs. In this role, she is the primary point person for applicants, incoming, and enrolled students.
