Congratulations to all of those who received awards at the 2024 Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) Meeting in Rochester, New York:

 

Salon Awards (Student)

Leah Balsan (BVIS 2024) received a Social Impact Award for Mis(s) Diagnosis: Building Woman Back into Medicine, ADHD.

Susie Hammons (BVIS 2024) received an Award of Merit in the Didactic/Instructional-Molecular/Biological/Life Sciences category for Hook Fish, Not Birds

 

Salon Awards (Professional)

BVIS Faculty Member Karen Bucher received a Social Impact Award for Sarcoidosis of the Skin.

BVIS alumnus Todd Buck (BVIS 1990) received an Award of Excellence in the Editorial category for Menopause.

BVIS alumnus David Ehlert (BVIS 1997) & Cognition Studio, Inc. received an Award of Merit in the Interactive Media: Didactic/Instructional Non-Commercial category for Gates Ventures: Type II Diabetes and Obesity Website.

Body Scientific International (team including work from BVIS alumna and Faculty Member Carolina Hrejsa (BVIS 2007) and BVIS alumna Monica Wierzbicki (BVIS 2020) received an Award of Excellence in the Illustrated Text category for The Foundation and Art of Robotic Surgery.

BVIS alumna Heidi Schlehlein (BVIS 2011) received an Award of Merit in the Editorial category for Body Image.

 

Other AMI Awards

BVIS alumna Ni-ka Ford (BVIS 2017) was recognized as a Diversity Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators and for her commitment to creating a new digital library to expand the depiction of racial and ethnic diversity in medical illustration. BVIS alumni Melanie Connolly (BVIS 2016), and Eva Mae Baucom (BVIS 2016) were elected to the Board of Governors for the Association of Medical Illustrators.

BVIS alumna Autumn Kulaga-Engoren (BVIS 2013) was named a Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI). The designation of Fellow is a formal recognition of those AMI members who have generously contributed their skill, time, and effort to the Association by performing volunteer service. The purpose of the AMI's Fellow Program is to both recognize and encourage such volunteer participation in the activities of the Association.

Congratulations to BVIS alumnus Todd Buck (BVIS 1990) for completing his term as President of the Association of Medical Illustrators and becoming the Immediate Past President.
