DHD partners with City Colleges of Chicago for free community health worker program to fight opioid crisis

DHD has partenered with Malcolm X College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, in the launch of the Opioid-Impacted Family Support Program, a free community health worker program to fight opioid crisis. Through the program, students are trained to provide care and services to children and families impacted by opioid and substance use disorders. The grant will pay for students’ tuition, fees and book costs, and will provide a stipend up to $7,500 for the two-phase training course. Tamar Heller (PI) and Kueifang (Kelly) Hsieh (Co-PI) are conducting the evaluation of this program. Fox 32 Chicago and ABC 7 Chicago aired segments on the program.
